What are liqueurs?
Liqueurs are sweet alcoholic drinks which are flavoured with a variety
of different ingredients and come in a variety of different colors.
The Alcohol content of liqueurs is not usually a distinctive feature
of these speciality liqueur drinks. Most liqueur drinks have a lower alcohol content
than spirits between 15% - 30% although some have a much higher alcohol
content up to 55%. The name derives from the Latin word 'liquifacere'
which means to melt or dissolve - the flavorings used to make liqueurs
are dissolved.
What is the
difference between Liqueurs and Spirits?
There are so many different types of Liqueurs and recipes that it is difficult to
specify precise differences. However the general differences between
liqueurs and spirits or liquors are:

What is the
difference between Creme Liqueurs and Cream Liqueurs?

Creme Liqueur and a Cream Liqueur are made differently - it is not just
a matter of misspelling.

Creme Liqueur has a substantial amount of sugar added resulting in
an almost syrup consistency. No Cream is added

Cream liqueur have less sugar added and always includes a quantity
of cream in the ingredients
How to serve
a Liqueur
Liqueurs are made in
nearly every country of the world and come in a variety of different
flavors and colors. This makes a liqueur an extremely versatile drink.
A Liqueur can be served:

Straight up recipes - Perfect as an after dinner drink - they are
generally served at
room temperature

served over ice cubes or crushed ice
